Basic Info Name: Rayonica Age: 18 True Age: 412 Apparel: Rayonica has a unique look among her peers that can sometimes attract the wrong attention, or the right, depending on what it is. Standing at 5’10”, her skin is flushed a very deep crimson tone. In several places on her body she is covered by scales, adaptations to areas on her body that received much abuse from her childhood. These scales are located at her sides and lateral portion of her ribs, her forearms, the outside of her upper legs, feet and hands. They are very solid and durable, yet pliable, offering good natural protection without encumbering her mobility.
Her teeth are brilliantly white and her epicanthic eyes are exotically slanted and have brilliant yellow irises with pupils that are vertically slit similar to a cat's. She has a slender, unblemished face with high cheekbones, ending with a smooth chin. Her nails are blood red and her lips are a lush red-purple. She looks like what many people depict demons to be.
She has an attractive physique and is very well-proportioned and her scales make a smooth transition with the skin, somehow managing to avoid looking out of place or invasive in relation to the rest of her body. Despite her unique appearance, she just pulls it off. She can generally be found dancing when she isn't doing something important.
She generally wears a black tube-top and dull blue cargo jeans. On her head she sometimes wears a black bandana streaked with yellow material where it passes over her temples and ears. Her left ear is pierced with two studs connected by a small chain.
Personality: Rayonica is assertive, sassy and full of attitude and vitality. With dance being her greatest passion in life, Rayonica incorporates her talents in her fighting style and everyday life. It gives her an elegant, flowing poise that is admirable to behold and an especially unpredictable style of combat.
She likes things to be unpredictable and dynamic. She hates the idea of living a repetitive and monotonous lifestyle and very much prefers to just wing it and live in the moment. She generally worries about nothing, trusting that things will unfold as they will and she can ride the tide as if she was surfing the waves on a beach. She is very secure in her abilities, but her confidence shines brightly when things are chaotic. She has not yet killed anything other than Hollows, but she believes she is capable of cold anger.
Rayonica is aware of everything that goes on around her. She can use the environment to her advantage to an uncanny degree of mastery and is adept at setting traps. Her instincts are rarely inaccurate, and so she is cunning and clever. All in all, she has many characteristics that would be highly desired in a comander. It's too bad that few people, if any, would follow a demon into battle.
For a period of one hundred and twenty years, her true personality and willpower was buried beneath compulsion and learned helplessness. She is currently still recovering from it emotionally despite the fact that it happened over four decades ago. While she is as described above, there are some certain instances where she becomes blank and submissive. She is still quite fragile, and so she tries to never go anywhere without a trusted companion.
Zanpakutou Zanpakutou Name: Stheno Zanpakutou Apparel: In its sealed form, Rayonica's zanpakutoh is unqiue only in that the blade is a flowy pattern of the various shades of red with a black hand guard, hilt, and pommel. Otherwise it appears as a normal weapon
Zanpakutou Spirit:
| Spoiler: | | | |
Stheno, considered to be a sister of Medusa by some accounts, was was only her sister by association. They both shared the ability to use snakes and turn things to stone, but Stheno also had the power to influence the maturation of life forms in negative ways and she loved to tear humans apart with an insatiable lust for blood. They are not actually related, and Stheno, who has always been terrifyingly beautiful, is angered by what history's hand has given her.
Her skin is as pale as the moonlight of her inner world and she wears an ornate black corset and trousers with several flaring wisps of fabric, and her wings are black. Her black hair is straight and reaches down to her knees. Following behind her are narrow trains of black silks and laces. Beneath black arching eye brows is a lovely face forever stuck in a scowl unless she is killing something or drinking its blood. At those times, she is beaming with horrifying delight.
Her eyes are a bright red as if lights were shining from them and her lips are curved in a cruel way. It is easy to tell she has laughed through much of her life simply because she could kill anything she wished to whenever she wanted.
Zanpakutou Inner World: Rayonica's Zanpakutoh’s inner world is a dark, dreary place. It is a magnificent city that seems to have been built with the Gothic architecture in mind. The sun never rises and wisps of clouds play their way across the moon that never wanes or waxes, its light illuminates the realm in an eerie red or blue color, depending on Stheno's mood.
Gargoyles of various sizes and shapes sit at the tops of buildings, in the fields, along roads that are either paved by cobblestones or wide dirt paths. Some are connected to women with snake hair or demonic features by a chain. A soft, constant wind provides a soft whistle as it passes among the statues and buildings and gives everything a ghostly softness.
Graveyards can be seen everywhere, but where a mound of dirt should have been in front of each tombstone stood a statue and within the chambers and sarcophaguses also stood statues rather than coffins. Some of them were pristine, but some were broken, and where they are broken they bleed a constant stream of blood that never seems to accumulate or heal. Blood stains are not an uncommon sight, but there is no way of knowing where they come from.
Finally, probably the most striking feature of the realm is that venomous snakes are everywhere. The fences and gates are all made of snakes that are swallowing each others' tails but never seem to make progress. The columns that support buildings and buttresses seem to writhe as the snakes slither overtop or beneath each other.
Wherever the snakes touch things that would be living there pervert and interfere with growth. Trees grow with immensely thick branches, but they would fall over because the trunk was too thin or brittle. Some trees had branches on only one side even though the bare side looked completely untouched. Branches could be completely bare but fruit and leaves would sprout from the main body of the tree. In several cases, trees are found uprooted because their roots were too dense on one side and kept turning to stone, preventing them from reaching deeper into the ground.
Everything the snakes touched or bit was grotesquely disfigured or it functioned in a manner that was completely unlike in scale or appearance what it ought to.
Shikai Call Out Phrase: Bloodlust, Stheno Shikai Apparel:
| Spoiler: | | | |
In its sealed form, Rayonica's zanpakutoh takes on a slightly savage version of a katana. Seemingly a combination of cutlass and katana, the bottom third of the blade is serrated and a small tooth seems to hang off in the middle. At the end the tip broadens slightly before finishing in a savage point. The hilt is yellow, covered by a coil of red snake scales, and the pommel is like a pincer that contains a small, special mirror that reflects reiatsu. According to Rayonica, it is a piece of Perseus' shield that was used to defeat Medusa.
Shikai Abilities: Stone Snake Entrapment: Rayonica drives her blade into the ground to the hilt, and then a large number of snakes sprout from the ground to ensnare a target. The snakes can only extend as far as they naturally can, but to increase their reach, the snakes usually play host to others. When one snake reaches its limit, it unhinges its jaws and can let another snake lunge forth to continue the pursuit. Normally they immobilize just the lower half of the body, but if a target struggles enough, they will take his arms, as well. When they get hold of their target, they wrap around it with blinding speed and turn to stone to securely hold them in place.
If she turns her zanpakutoh one quarter to the right after putting it in the ground the stones constrict and grow to overtake the prisoner, trapping them without air or the ability to move. Because the stone molds to the prisoner's form, allies must take special care when trying to break it.
The snakes remain for as long as any portion of the blade or Vessaki's body are in contact with the ground. While engaged, this ability provides her a hostage with which she can apply leverage to negotiate her way out of a tight situation.
Swarm Virus: ((It's up to the RP partner to play this out reasonably, as I'd rather alleviate claims of god-moding right now)) Rayonica turns her zanpakutoh and drives the sword tip into the palm of her other hand, pushing it until the hilt touches her palm. The blade does not go through her hand, but instead it shatters into hundreds of fragments that warp and veer into various shapes when broken. Each piece turns into a snake, and due to her zanpakutoh’s venomous qualities they are all venomous, but their toxins affect the enemy’s use of kidou and his zanpakutoh, depending on what they bite.
The snakes fly toward the opponent at intensely fast speed and strike either the enemy or his zanpakutoh - whichever one comes first. When the target is reached or if all the pieces missed, her blade returns back to normal . The effects on the opponent when the snakes strike impair the use of any rei-based abilities. When they strike the zanpakutoh or any item that is a source of power, the items own powers and appearance can be retarded from its normal path of development.
For instance, when releasing shikai from the sealed form after being bitten, the blade may change but the hilt, or any secondary characteristics of the shikai such as a second weapon or a wardrobe change, may not manifest themselves until much later, if at all, preventing the enemy from using their shikai to its fullest potential. Any ability or aspect that develops late will seem to be deficient from its normal capabilities in some way or another. It may also come to pass that the hilt may change but the blade will turn into something completely different from what it is supposed to be. It might be much larger or smaller than normal, or a different shape altogether. When an opponent releases shikai, they may receive a portion of bankai that they are not able to control while in shikai. Releasing to the next stage won't necessarily solve this issue.
If the enemy is bitten on the body the same concept applies to any Kidou or rei-based or rei-enhanced ability that is performed by them without aid of a power focus like a zanpakutoh. A shinigami may try a kidou only to come out with a significantly weaker or stronger result than they expect, or they may fire multiple forms of the spell at once, tiring them out more quickly. No physical damage is sustained, unless inflicted by the bite.
While the pain from the bites will last until treated, the effects of the venom last for three to four posts or until treated by a specialist.
Bankai Call Out Phrase: Stheno, Queen of Carnage Bankai Apparel:
| Spoiler: | | | The appearance of the snakes
Physical appearance and the rest of her bankai manifestation |
Rayonica's eyes now burn yellow like the fires of the sun had replaced her eyes. Her skin loses its red tone, revealing fair, pale skin and a stunningly beautiful woman. She loves being in Bankai because it's the only time she looks like a normal human being, and the only reason for that is that she partially manifests Stheno's spirit body in combination with her own.
Before this transformation she was merely exotic and unusual, now she is like a diamond in the rough. Her hair has completely changed into a great number of vipers , but each are adorned in ornate golden headdresses and body ornaments from precious metals. These ornaments are worth a great sum of money, as they date back to ancient Greece. At points along each snake are designs that make their skin tough, but they can also attack targets within ten yards of Rayonica, able to stretch their bodies over the distance to sink their fangs into an opponent of their own volition. Their venom is potent enough to paralyze a target within the span of a few heart beats and cause intense pain. They are her natural defense and attack, for she has sacrificed the use of a weapon in combat
Around her now stand innumerable statues and gargoyles of many different types and sizes. They range in size from a pomeranian dog to a leviathan or titan, frightfully quick or painfully slow, and some have simply never been seen before, as they are the embodiment of an opponent's greatest fears.
Bankai Abilities: Petrifaction: Rayonica has the ability to turn her target to stone by firing a burst of reiatsu through her eyes. This ability works on small areas of the body at a time, but it slowly spreads over the body and certain areas are more potent than others for a quick strike. This ability is especially inconvenient in that the stone it will weigh differently than normal and their are no nerves or muscles to control it. It throws off a fighter's balance as their body tries to compensate for the discrepancy, something that is difficult to correct in a short time without training.
The only warning of this ability is that she must focus energy into her optic nerve behind her eyes, and just before each burst her eyes turn blood red in their entirety. The spike in power will warn a potential target, but they will only benefit from such detection if they are fleet of foot, as the speed of the brain to process sensory input from the eyes is very difficult to beat.
It takes two posts for an entire limb to be turned to stone. If the head is struck first, progress will be accerated the body will fully turn to stone in two posts, otherwise it will take ten posts to the entire body to be changed. Damage can be dealt to the person while in stone form. The head is the only place where the entire sculpture will fully fracture and crumble if enough force is applied to a single point, equivalent to striking a sharp chisel with moderate force. The location is at precisely the middle of the forehead.
The target will not be freed if they decides to crack the stone. If the stone breaks apart, only the portion of the sculpture that is damaged will return to flesh form. If an enemy loses an arm, the arm will revert back to its flesh form to bleed and rot in however many pieces it was cut into, but the rest of the body will remain stone. For trying to scrape the stone off, if someone thinks his ally is merely encased, it would be like skinning them alive - not a pleasant experience.
This can be reversed by Rayonica's own volition or if a talented healer is nearby that can perform rei-work on a cellular level. The prisoner's reiatsu is greatly masked, but it is still able to be tapped for weak bursts of energy. The stone is nearly indestructible from the inside, but it can be broken by a Captain-level individual in three posts, beneath that level, the imprisonment may be indefinite. It can be strengthened with a sheet of reiatsu from Rayonica to last for one additional post.
Gargoyle Animation: Rayonica has innumerable statues that form around her and they are not for decoration. They are, in fact, very powerful gargoyles of varying shapes and sizes. Each is held in containment and protected by a layer of reiatsu from Rayonica to prevent it from movement and from damage. This layer is stronger when fewer are animated, but she is capable of enabling fifty beasts last at least two hits against a Lieutenant-level enemy and twenty-five at least two hits against a Captain-level opponent. When she controls them in fewer numbers, their durability and power increase parabolically.
The gargoyles can appear both above and below ground, depending on their nature, and their composition varies in range from marble to diamond. They can change take on characteristics of the creature they have become or the abilities that the opponent most fears. For instance, if one stone is a Rokurokobi, it will have the ability to manipulate its stone composition to extend its neck and bite an opponent. If the opponent fears poison, a gargoyle may have the ability to spit out pockets of poison or emit it from 'breathing'. Then again, if someone fears loud noises, there may be a gargoyle that has the specific, singular gift of making a huge racket.
Five may be released with her full focus to be maintained and controlled while she fights with them. If fifty are free, Rayonica must exert one-tenth of her available energy into each, making them significantly weaker than if there was simply five. If she does not apply adequate focus, they will run rampant and Rayonica would be required to destroy them quickly, needlessly losing one of her tools without it doing any stress to her enemy.
An enemy turned to stone will also become animated if sheso wishes, but it will take an intensely strong event to break the compulsion she has over him or her. Whether or not she animates the prisoner, these gargoyles may eat the him/her any time they wish, as they can only ingest stone. They don't need nutrients to sustain them because they never get tired, but they just love the taste of flesh-turned-stone.
Hollow/Mask Abilities Mask:
| Spoiler: | | | |
Rayonica's mask is crude and heightens her demonic visage. Her body is also suddenly adorned with very sharp and durable spikes at her elbows, heels, forearms and shins. Each finger and toe is also tipped with sharp claws. Unlike her previous appearance as strangely alluring, this mask is downright terrifying when it is fully worn on her body
Hollow Control: Class One
Abilities: -Hierro -Bala. They are in the form of snakeheads. -Cero. Form of a Cobra's head -Bakudo #62 Hyapporankan ("Hundred Steps Fence")
A rod formed of energy is thrown towards the target before it disintegrates into numerous short rods which are used to pin the target to the surroundings and render them immobile
Back Drop Background:
| Quote: | | "Fine lies beat tedious truths every time." |
Rayonica appeared in the realm of Soul Society while she was still just a babe, but no one could surmise where she had come from or how she had gotten there. Her skin was red and her yellow eyes revealed slit pupils similar to a cat's. She looked like no other being in the area, possibly the entire world.
Very few people showed her a kind deed, and she had been beaten nearly to death multiple times by other children that blamed their misdeeds on her, or set her up to be caught in dangerous situations. As a result, her body had formed scaly deposits around the more vulnerable parts. It was an adaptation that did little to help her attempts to live a normal life.
She didn’t fit in and no one made any effort to prove her wrong until one day when she saw a shinigami walking through the streets in her district. A few new kids had arrived and befriended her. She was eager to seek their approval because she was so starved of love that she took it when she could. They dared her to steal the man's sword and bring it back to them. They were all homeless and a sword like that would feed them for months, for all of them felt hunger. Rayonica was the only one brave enough to attempt it.
She stalked the shinigami for a few streets before finding a good place to pounce from and waited. When the Shinigami came by, she leapt from her hiding place and snatched his blade, running away before he could catch her. The chase did not last long, for when she rounded a corner, he was standing right there, blocking her path.
As he took his sword back, he said, "If you're going to do something, you should just go and do it. Waiting only brings failure... well, I was about to call you girl, but I'm not really sure what you are."
At first he was very suspicious of her appearance and asked if other children had made her look that way, especially when he saw healing bruises and cuts, as well as scales that seemed to be forming. When she said they had not with unfalteringly confidence, he looked at her more closely and on another level, finding that she had great potential.
He decided that he would be held in good favor if he introduced a new student with such potential to the Court of Pure Souls. He might even get promoted. But he also noted that her reiatsu was somehow different from his own and any other Shinigami. Ambition overruled caution, however, and he performed a spell that would mask the aspect of her power that felt so wrong to him. It was very dark and the spell took more energy than he had thought it would.
After exchanging a few words and finding out a few things about her, he brought her back to the Academy - after taking back his zanpakutoh. She was entered into courses later that week after being given a chance to adjust. She also mentioned a few names among her past acquaintances in Rukongai that had also felt hungry. They were investigated, and several of them were taken in by the Court of Pure Souls
Rayonica received many weird looks at her appearance, and many of the other students made fun of her. It wasn't any different from being on the streets, but at least she had nice clothes and a place to stay. Once, she was goaded into a fight by a few of the older students and was punished. She had beaten the ringleader, who had come from a noble family she'd never heard of, to a pulp. She wasn't entirely sure how she could move so fast and be so strong, as they beat her in every physical aspect of a fight, it just came naturally and readily.
Once, she scared a fellow academy student with a spiky red and white mask she'd found when she woke up one day, but she destroyed it later at the great fuss her classmate was making. She would get in trouble if they found out she'd used it to scare someone. Then her dreams began.
Rayonica had no recollection from her conscious memory of her days before being in Soul Society, except what her dreams showed her. She had a mother in Soul Society. They were were always hiding from something, but her touch was always loving and protective. Every morning that she dreamt about her mother the following sunrise was always beautiful.
After a couple of years, however, some of the dreams were nightmares of creatures that were not of the Soul Society. They were horrific, but there was one in particular that appeared every time, and a nagging feeling told her that it was her father. His whole face was always covered in shadow, but she could always see a piece of mask. Those dreams were always followed by sunrises that looked more like bad blood, almost as if the suffering she felt from the dream was bleeding into the Soul Society.
| Quote: | | "Facts are facts. Stating them is not a gift. It only proves you aren't blind." |
Rayonica excelled in most of her classes, but her skills in movement were something else to behold. She moved so lightly on her feet it was as if the air lifted her up. She was always happiest when she could perform for others. Her excessive talent at dance naturally helped her combative skills and she quickly moved through the lessons and advanced so quickly as to conduct herself in combat on par with seasoned students and even a few officers in the squads. Anything that involved movement was something she mastered quickly and fully.
She received many compliments and commendations in her success, and eventually she even had to fend off some people who loved to watch her dance or spar. Her skills at kidou were also quite good, but many people viewed her progress as slowed when they compared it to her physical prowess. She coasted through those lessons and kept pace with the better students at her level. At about this time some rumors had started that eventually she might become a Lieutenant one day. In the past she had always tried to avoid attention because it was harmful, but this time it was all positive, and she enjoyed finally being able to experience friendship.
Her dreams continued to come every night, but more and more often her dreams turned to nightmares and still the morning sun bled for her. Something was happening and it involved her father, but there was nothing she could do.
| Quote: | | "Swords do not rest easy on hooks. They have a tendency to return to their wielder's hands." |
Rayonica graduated the full curriculum of the Academy's requirements in a few years. She didn't rush through graduating the various levels, but merely charmed her way into getting her instructors to keep teaching her more and more advanced techniques and capabilities. Her most memorable moment in the Academy wasn't necessarily a favorite. When she received her zanpakutoh, the blade turned red almost as soon as she had gripped it. For a moment her instructor had thought she'd killed someone before noticing that the blade had actually changed color. She had said it was not a good omen for her student, and that she might consider trying to avoid combat or police assignments.
By the time she graduated she could have been a fourth seat officer in any Division of the Gotei 13. However, she joined the 4th, the least battle-oriented of the sqauds. She didn't want to have to use her zanpakutoh and didn't for the several years she stayed with the 4th Division, but she always felt like something was missing - even when she danced.
Her mask, which she had begun to recognize as a hollow mask, began to manifest itself. Sometimes she made it appear at her calling, sometimes it came out on its own. If other people were around she simply explained it was part of a fun costume. The lower-seated officers were often bewildered, but did not make an issue out of it. She didn't realize how lucky she really was.
A few months after being assigned to the 4th Division, Rayonica learned her zanpakutoh's name: Stheno. Stheno was, apparently, the eldest sister of Medusa that had an insatiable lust for blood. She had killed more men than both her sisters combined, according to legend. Rayonica, at first was frightened, but soon overcame that insecurity. Her father was coming, she had to become powerful.
Shortly after meeting Stheno and learning to use her zanpakutoh's abilities, she was approached in a dream by Stheno while meditating. Her bloodthirsty zanpakutoh wanted her to meet another aspect of her soul. Her true instincts. Its name was Aral Gamelon, a part of her soul that had been with her since conception, just as Stheno had been.
Aral Gamelon was a hollow. It had spikes all over its body and kept its distance from Rayonica, though it was not being timid by any means. It simply just did not like its current restrictions placed by the spell the first Shinigami Rayonica had met had cast. It did not try to overcome her, as Aral Gamelon did not get forcibly placed into her soul. It had been contributed by her father.
Together, Rayonica and Stheno worked to break the spell that bound it, but it would not budge. Stheno would scowl after each attempt, glowering at their lack of success. Obviously, this would take time and Rayonica was not yet powerful enough to contribute enough energy into the task. They promised Aral Gamelon they would come back.
| Quote: | | "You dream that with memories will come knowledge, and from knowledge, understanding. But for every answer you find, a thousand questions arise." |
Rayonica continued to train with Stheno and mastered her shikai at the age of 100 after thirty years of hard training, for it was fairly wild and dangerous in some respects. Her dreams still came and went every night, and some sunrises were still beautiful while some were still horrifically sickening. Few of her peers, if any, really took note of it. She had no idea if any of the upper echelon had noticed. She was almost up there with them. She'd been transferred and promoted to 3rd Seat of the 3rd Division.
She had more duties that took away from her training time, but she was still working with Stheno to free Aral Gamelon and achieve Bankai. Everyon had told her she had that potential for years, but her progression wasn't swift like any prodigy's might be. She learned skills in interrogation, as well as how to use the body in order to get information. What could a prisoner afford to lose before they would die and be useless.
Her continued time with Stheno and learning these new skills turned her demeanor to something cold, though she still had some vitality and sass.
| Quote: | | “You may think you are a good person, but you have not been tested yet. Not really. You have not experienced what may well turn you into something you do not recognize. Sooner or later, it will happen; maybe sooner now that you have met me.” |
Another fifty years went by, and Rayonica did achieve bankai and shortly thereafter freed Aral Gamelon. When this happened, chaos was let loose.
Rayonica returned to her body to find that she was struggling to control the power she'd just freed. It wasn't trying to take her over, it was simply overflowing. It had been penned up for so long that the resulting outflow was so strong it nearly burst through her skin. Even with Stheno's help, she couldn't stop it and eventually everything went black.
She awoke in the prison section of the 4th Division's headquarters, bewildered. She sat there, confused, until a pair of men came in with special staves to read her a list of crimes committed and then take her before the Central 46 for judgment. They told her that she had been consorting with Hollows and that she had betrayed Soul Society. Her home.
One of the officials made it very clear that Soul Society had never been her home, somehow learning that she had simply just appeared there. She was different from everyone that lived in the realm. Her red skin and the presence of scales alone proved it, according to several of the members. She broke down crying as she was sentenced to death and sent away before she could even defend herself. Everything had come tumbling down from something that used to be so secure.
Rayonica had made many very close friends in Soul Society and they had abandoned her as a traitor. All except a few very old acquaintances from her life in Rukongai. All of the boys and girls she had mentioned were reasonably powerful seated officers, and they had grown up together, excluding Rayonica. They believed they owed it to her, however. They had treated her so badly, and yet she freed them from their miserable life in Rukongai as street-rats. She had given them a new life, and now they meant to return the favor and be done with their debt to her. It wasn't very comforting and did nothing to help her emotionally, but it was something.
They formed an intricate plan to free her and it worked, though a couple were killed. They got Rayonica's zanpakutoh and sent her through the Senkai Gate to the Human World. The entire time she kept asking why they were doing what they were doing, and each responded that they owed it to her no matter what she said against the point. One young man was one of the Shinigami that helped take care of the Hell Butterflies. He had stolen one of them and guided her through Garganta to ensure she would make it safely. He accomplished his mission, but on his way back, unbeknownst to Rayonica, he was swept up and killed by the Soul Exchanger when he lost control of the Hell Butterfly.
The Senkeimon closed behind Rayonica. She stood there staring at nothing for a long time, holding on to her zanpakutoh dumbly. She couldn't believe what had just happened, but now what could she do?
After shaking away her inner thoughts and doubts, she finally began to register her surroundings. It was a realm unlike any she had ever seen. It was very dark, and empty. Her rescuers had said she was going to the Living World, but this was nothing like the descriptions she had heard from her older classmates. This place was oppressive, and it began to get at her nerves.
She wandered the area for a long time before she began to encounter other beings in the realm. They were bestial, grotesque, and aggressive. It would be a struggle for her life that would require her to always be on guard. But she could never shake the feeling that someone was watching her.
"Spirit is a warrior's strength, a human's resilience, and poor man's bread. It cannot be broken despite what we may believe at the time." Rayonica found a vast network of caverns to dwell in and spent the next hundred years of her life fighting the beasts of the realm. Some were more powerful than others, some were more grotesque. She mastered her bankai at around her 250th year of life. She had fully mastered her bankai and has complete control of her hollow. Then something unexpected happened.
The day had started out much like any other - slaughtering beasties. It had become quite easy, now, but something felt wrong. Something was watching her again - it felt exactly like the day she had arrived. It was like a tickling sensation in the middle of her back.
In the middle of a confrontation several creatures hesitated and stopped their assault to run away, joining a stampede of others as they went by. It was telling that the creatures ran away so openly when stealth was what mattered to many of them. Something bad was coming, and so she took off down her corridor branching away from the stampede and the main tunnel. She didn't get far.
A stunning blast of sulfur stopped her in her tracks, and suddenly she faced a man that was taller than her by at least half a foot. He had purple hair and wore human clothing, but his eyes were an unnatural, piercing crimson. It was almost as if he was reading her like a book. After a moment, the man hmphed, then spoke her name.
Immediately she became rigid and could not take her eyes from his. He smiled as if he had accomplished something and then told her she was his daughter and that she would obey him. His power was that of compulsion by creating bonds and debts, and he had achieved the height of his potential when he had raped her mother to create a child. It was the height of his potential because sharing the same blood was the strongest form of control he could use. It was a form of control that would overrule any other loyalties except that of the strongest love a person could experience. But Rayonica did not have that, he explained, because of her ugly appearance.
When she tried to attack him he illustrated his point and said with a calm and knowing voice, "Freeze."
She stopped in midstride, unable to move despite the fact that nothing was grabbing her. All she could do was breathe for several terrifyingly long moments.
"Fall."
Rayonica fell to the ground in a heap at the unexpected release of her body. She got back up and lunged again, but he caught her arm as the blade.
"Enough of this. Sit on that rock over there," he pointed, "and we will talk about what your life will be like for the rest of your ill-begotten existence."
Her body stiffened as she tried to resist, but she was unable to keep herself from walking to the exact rock he told her to go with the intention of talking with him about her future. It was at that moment that she knew her life was over, and as he spoke she cried for the first time in nearly a century. His smile only broadened with each tear that fell from her chin.
Over the next one hundred and twenty years, she was a slave to her father, doing his bidding as he made it. He meant to overthrow Reina, but he needed to break Rayonica's spirit so thoroughly that she would never even consider trying to resist it. Her personality was drowned by the knowledge that she could never escape his compulsion. He found many uses for her power and used the opportunities to feed on powerful hollows and shinigami.
Then it all changed one day, when she and her father went to Seireitei on another routine mission. They were met with a team of shinigami that were moving away from where the Court of Pure Souls was supposed to be. Her father ordered her to attack them, and she did with blind obedience. She had long ago forgotten how to cry from having no choice to do something she did not want to do. Her face was completely blank. There was no determination or regret.
Unlike all the shinigami she had fought up to this point, they were all powerful and restrained her by working as a team. One of them had said they didn't have time to play games. Her father roared with rage, but was cut down and killed quickly. He'd had no special combative capabilities to defend himself with. The backlash from the tight bond struck Rayonica for such a loop that she was unconscious for nearly a month with bouts of delirious behavior while she slept.
When she finally woke, she was welcomed by new faces, and they helped her discover who she was. She was finally able to face and fight Aral Gamelon and battled with him constantly, and she finally became what she was born to be: a Vizard.
Side notes: Rayonica is the only Vizard that seems to be naturally born. The 12th Division is especially eager to get their hands on her for studying and experiments. Due to her emotional instability, she prefers to have a partner wherever she goes, so if a vizard organization is willing to accomodate that in RP as a cautionary measure, it'd be appreciated =P
Others RP Sample: Will be made available upon request

| Okay so, I wanna say this is one of Samu's applications but I cant be sure...If you are new then bravo on a well written application, extremely detailed and interesting. Also if you are new I would like an RP sample. If you are Samu then please say so, and no matter who you are please answer this question:
What if your snakes in shikai that are able to disrupt kidou and the such bite an adept human? ____________________________________ |

| I've written two replies only to have my window shut down =( Yep, it's Samu, nd patience with this computer is thin. Same effects on Humans, Arrancar, and Vizards. If they are bitten, their rei-based abilities will experience greater or lesser output than they expect/can handle. The output will be fluctuating, so it will be difficult to adjust to the variance in power. If Arrancar are hit in the body, they won't be able to use their hollow abilities like Cero, Sonido, pesquisa, etc with reliable and consistent power output or results. It might not even form at all. A Cero might be bala, putting a finger to the ground for pesquisa may activate sonido one time, causing them to launch into the air and negacion another, veiling them when they don't want to be veiled. If the zanpakutoh is bitten, they will experience unexpected changes in resurrecion abilities and appearance. Vizards get the same deal as Shinigami with Zan and rei abilities depending on how they are bitten. When Vizards activate their mask, they will receive the normal mask enhancement, but if Rayonica lands a bite on the mask, it may morph a little or effect the power output. By that time any Vizard mighta figured out what the snakes do, though. As always, up to the RP partner how they want to RP it. My only condition is that the change won't ever be absent or negligible and practically 0% chance that it will benefit the target. The running theme for this power is essentially like when a fetus experiences substances such as alcohol, drugs, smoke or conditions like malnutrition or pre-natal abuse. Development gets disrupted and even prevented and it is always deviant from the norm. In some cases the fetus dies , in which case the Zanpakutoh may not release at all (up to the RP partner) until it receives medical attention. |

| But the affects are only temporary, right?...Also for some reason every time I sit in front of my computer I always want to go to sleep. Anyways back to the topic. So Samu so far everything seems alright. The poison doesn't last long only a few posts and makes things interesting. Ummm any forms of reversal on the being turned to stone? For example your stone gaze hits my pinky, is it my pinky is incased in stone or my pinky is stone. Because if its incased thats fine, thats counterable. However should I turn to stone then that starts to cause problems on an anatomical level as well as on nervous tissues and the such. Thinking about that gives me a headache....Also if it gets turned to stone, how would it be turned back? ____________________________________ |

| Yeah, I think I have the limit written as 3 to 4 posts or until treated. However long it lasts, the person'll need medical attention to make sure everything's alright. It's up to the RPer if they want to let the venom have a more lasting effect, but normally it's 3-4 posts + lots of pain from the bites. =P
The stone is turning the body part to stone, but wherever the stone receives damage turns back to flesh to hurt and bleed. If the limb is cut off, it returns to flesh, but whatever portion is left remains on the main body stays stone. The main issue is if the reiatsu is still present that is able to revert back to body tissue, otherwise the concept I'm going for is more that of freezing the limb like one does in cryochambers than simply stopping function - except in this case it's using stone =P
It plays off the statues in her Zanpakutoh's inner world that are fully stone, part-stone/part-person or part-stone/part-animal and where the stone is broken streams blood. It does spread slowly, but the reason damaged flesh is able to revert back is because the cells that are turned to stone still retain their reiatsu and thus their specialized functions/DNA like one would retain blue-prints, it's all just muted and dormant from what they normally show in the form of stone. If an individual is able to devote his or her full attention to it away from distractions like combat or pesky subordinates, a Captain can reverse the full-limb stone in two posts. For the full body, I'm thinking undivided attention for 3 posts. For a lieutenant or individuals with good control over their reiatsu, probably three for a limb, four for the whole body. However long it takes, chances are high that the reversal may not be perfect, so they'll need to see someone who can check it and give a clean bill of health.
Rayonica is able to stop or reverse the process at any time she wishes, as well. Dude, yeah, Im getting a headache from all this thinking, too. I blame all the snow my state's getting. It's freezing my brain! @_@ |

| I feel ya on the headache from the over thinking. So your saying concentrating on using your reiatsu to reverse the effect can work. And that its not actually stone, its more like you froze the limb and the limb just sits there useless and what not but isnt made of stone. Okay that makes sense I guess....Well, add in the reversal process into your application if its not already in there I cant fully remember, and uhhhh...I will say approved.

| No, the petrified areas really are stone and behave as such as far as weight, strength and durability and all. As far as biologic functions, though, it's like the limb has been frozen. I guess the best way to put it is to say it's "living" stone. If a limb is left in stone form it won't age or change from what it was before. If Midou were to have this done to his arm from the elbow down and then went and got a full body tan, when the stone was reversed the place where there was stone would be paler in comparison and not damaged by UV rays. At the same time, if he waited one hundred years and wound up getting osteoporosis, his arm from the elbow down would not reflect the osteoporosis. If Rayonica were to completely petrify someone he or she could, essentially, "live" forever unless their statue-form is destroyed.
Despite not changing with time, the living stone can still be damaged. If an affected limb is damaged, that area becomes flesh and bone and it bleeds, hurts, etc. though unless the target has a healing ability the bleeding may not stop. If a chunk were to be taken out of Kira's arm, or if her arm were to be sliced off, it turn back to flesh and bone and at that point it would be a good idea to try and save whatever was lost so that it can be put back in its rightful place later like what Ulquiorra did with Yammy's arm. |
