Star
Last night the weirdest thing happened. There I was waiting to see the
meteor shower and the sky went pitch black, all except for one single star.
The star, although small than the sun, light up around the dark night sky.
Night became day again and the whole crowed was in mass confusion.
As the church clock struck its large and small hand on the big black number
twelve, the gongs rang signaling midnight, even thou the sky was as bright
as twelve in afternoon. The crowd was although, about to go in mass
hysteria, and there I was... awed in the sky by this beautiful sight.
About an hour after a message was sent on the television appeared on
all the televisions with the government telling us not to worry, that all
was to be found out by the scientists and it will all be well, but deep down I knew they were wrong. At three in the morning, something strange happened. The temperature began to rise. Thirty degrees, forty degrees, fifty degrees. Next the power went out, and as I went outside to check what was going around, the sky was turning into a wild shad of orange, and the star grew about 6 times its original size.
The heat soon became almost unbearable. The streets that were filled
with civilians left to their houses, and the power began to flicker slowly
until it was completely gone. I looked at the thermostat and it peaked at
110 degrees Fahrenheit. My clothing soaked by sweat from the heat, and my mind started to melt away. Out the window, smoke was to be seen by some of the houses set aflame by the heat, screams of families heard throughout the neighbor hood as they lost their houses, and shelter from the star's rays.
Soon after that, my own house set aflame. I hurried down to the
basement were it was someone cooler and started to run cold water in the
sink. As I put my hands under the water my hands burned a bit, it seems
that the water even in the pipes has turned warm. I scurried around in a
panic as I did not know what to do. The upstairs was set on fire and it was
slowly traveling down the stairs, I had no where to go.
The fire still traveling down, I grabbed a bucket and started
splashing it on the flame. The fire sizzled back a bit, just to come back
down when the water evaporated. That moment the fire started to lower. Then I realized the water became cold and I soaked my clothing in it and went back upstairs. I looked in the sky and the star was gone. Houses were no longer on fire, but the sky was still starless and the moon had a dim shine to it. As my sight settled from the sky I noticed something in the
distance, it was the star that started this heat. I ran over a close as I
could. It was a huge meteor, about seventeen feet high and nineteen feet
wide.
The crusty surface began to shiver and crack flakes of the rubble and
dust fell off revealing a smooth and shiny chrome surface. Two large vents
opened up and scolding hot steam blew out of them, a front door opened and two strange figures appeared in the doorway, blinding light behind them. I
could not believe my eyes, for the sight I was witnessing was extra
terrestrials. Stuff that you only see on T.V. or in books.
The figures came out of the door way and the blinding light faded. The
aliens were in full revealing view now, their dinner plate sized eyes
wanderer around the terrain, then rested on me, the pupils shank a bit, and
the eyes glowing bright green. There skinny gray bodies moved forward
towards me. To shocked to move, I stood completely still. Just as the hand
reached to touch me I heard a frightening loud buzzing.
The aliens backed off as the buzzing grew louder, soon I began to
recognize it, the aliens backed up faster and my eyes fell heavy and shut.
When I opened them I found myself laying in my bed, and my alarm going off. I thought to myself, and discovered it was all a dream, that whole night
wasn't real at all. But then why did it feel real? I lifted off my covers,
the blankets were pretty wet with sweat, but when I took the covers
completely off, something strange was on my stomach, I stared at it for
awhile...it was to well designed to be an accident, it was a perfect
circle, I decided to ignore it, and go to get ready for work.
When I got out of bed and got dressed, I noticed something strange in
the sky, not only was the sun out and shining, but there was a single star
glistening in the blue sky. For about a minute I stared at this star, but
when I blinked, it was gone. Suspicions rose about my dream, and I started
to wonder if it was real or now, just then the second alarm went off, and I
realized I was about to be late for work, I lost my train of thought and
ran out.
